    Rome is accessible by all means of transportation. A large number of tourists arrived in Rome by air, but there are also others who visit Rome by water and by road.

    Getting To Rome by Air

    Rome is currently served by two main airports. The first known airport is the Leonardo da Vinci Airport, which is located approximately 26 kilometers outside the city. At this airport is a train station where you can catch a direct train running to Stazione Termini, this goes once an hour. There are also other trains running from the airport to Ostiense, Trastevere and Tiburtina.

    If you happen to arrive in Rome at night, you don’t need to worry as a bus to Tiburtina is available for you when the trains are not running. This, however, is a bit impractical for those who are bringing their families with them or with a lot of luggage.

    The second airport that has been serving Rome for years now is the Ciampino Airport. Unlike Leonardo da Vinci Airport, there are only a fewer choices available to you for traveling into the city. A COTRAL bus service will get you to the subway and the Stazione
    Termini. You could also of course hire a car.



    Getting around Rome by Water

    Like many of the other places in the world, Rome can also be reached by water. The port of the Civitavecchia is close so you can get to Rome by water. This port is located at Molo Vespucci and is run by the Autorita Portuale di Civitavecchia. It is equipped with a waiting room, ATMs, a bar and a left-luggage station.

    From the port of Civitavecchia, you can reach Rome by train that runs approximately every 30 minutes. If you want to travel by taxi, you have the option and it’s nice to know that the place is just a short distance away from the city of Rome.

    Getting Rome by Road

    One of the most common modes of transportation in Rome is by buses and the metro. This is basically the public way of transferring from ports or airports to the city of Rome. The buses and metro are run by a company known as ATAC, and this mode of transportation is favored by many people knowing that it is cost effective compared to the other systems.

    It is important to note, however, that tickets are required for the passengers. The tickets are generally good not only for buses and metro, but also for transferring between the two. The ticket, however, is only good for one metro ride. So if in case you are transferring from one metro to another bus and to another metro, expect then to obtain another ticket from the ticketing office.

    Speaking of tickets, it is always best to remember that the transportation ticket in Rome is called a BIT and costs 1 Euro. It is good only for 75 minutes and it is worth noting that every time you enter a bus or a metro, your ticket needs to be stamped.

    If you are staying overtime on your next transfer, you need to obtain another ticket. It is for this reason actually that tourists are often advised when in Rome to purchase a number of tickets or passes so to avoid hassles of looking for a ticket booth and buying another for another transfer.

    If all else fails, don’t just worry. Wherever you may be in Rome, there is always a taxi. The taxis usually come in white and with a light on top, indicating whether they are available or not. In addition, it is not advised for visitors to phone a taxi, unless in case of emergency. The truth is that as soon as the call comes in,the meter of the taxi starts running, even if you haven’t got in the car yet. And, knowing how close the traffic in Rome is, considering a taxi can be very pricey.

    In Rome, a massive number of tourists coming from all sides of the world flock to the city during the start of the Easter season until the month of October.  Spring and autumn mark the peak season, and it is during the summer periods that a number of numerous festivals and concerts fill the squares, making the summer worth the heat. So you are planning to visit Rome in summer, it is always recommended to plan and figure out the exact sites to visit as early as possible.

    Also, when you are in the city, learn to act and do as what the Romans do.  Get up and out early, take a long lunch and a nap if you want, and resume your activities in the late afternoon.  If you want to enjoy what the night in Rome has to offer, then stay up late.  You can stroll around the busy streets or watch the glittering lights of the great structures in this eternal site.



    It is also worth noting that during the month of August, most of the shops and restaurants in Rome close.  During the winter days, especially around January to March, expect to obtain better opportunities for getting into the major attractions in the city without having to stand in line and wait for the signal of your entrance.  The people visiting the glories of Rome during the winter months are not that great, but not also too small to be considered.  It is also usual for many tourists to enjoy some fun events during the start of the yuletide.

    Now, what basically makes Rome an all-time favorite?

    The answer to that is none other than the climate. The climate in Rome, just like the rest of the world, varies all year round.  But although it seems to be a bit unpredictable, the climate in Rome is fine all throughout the year.  And, as far as the weather goes, spring and fall are the best seasons in Rome. During this time, people from different areas in the world flock to the city to witness and enjoy everything that the Eternal City has to offer, and it’s nice to know that during theses seasons, the weather is neither too hot nor too cold.

    It is also during spring and fall that the daytime offers plenty of sun, but later in the afternoon, the famous Roman sunsets show off their beautiful faces to enlighten the tourists.

    The summer in Rome is also very popular.  It is, however, scorching to many, the reason that tourists are advised to stay up late in the morning than stroll around the area.  The recent ones have been noted to be the hottest and the driest in record.  But when winter comes, you’ll experience the mildest climate on earth. It is coupled typically by some persistent rainy spells.

    Madrid is in the first place the heart of Spain.  It is the center of everything cosmopolitan and urban and as a result Madrid is teeming with life. The modern city, according to several statistics, currently has an estimated population of about three million.

    Madrid is deemed throughout Spain as a must-see place with its multitude of attractions, including museums and art galleries, parks, discos, bars, cafes, and live music hubs, it is a lively place to be.

    However, if compared with Barcelona, the city of Madrid only offers a few architectural structures for the visitors to see.  But if these artistic designs are your craving, Madrid can still give you the best option to it, and it’s none other than the wide museums, which is but considered throughout the country as Madrid prime cultural attractions.

    So on your visit to Madrid, Spain, you must not forget the museums as your subject for exploration. Speaking of museums, Madrid boasts three large museums encompassing the El Museo del Prado, Thyssen-Bornemisza, and Centro de Arte Reina Sofia.



    The Prado, in the first place, was first used as the house for natural science, but instead of being a house of scientific enlightenment, the museum is now used as one of the largest hubs for artistic excellence.  The works of Goya, Bosch, Botticelli, Velasquez, Titian, and El Greco are shown at this museum.

    There is also the Thyssen-Bornemisza, which is but considered as one of the city’s newly constructed attraction.  This museum occupies the Villahermosa Palace which has a history dating back to 18th century.

    It is located at the Paseo del Prado and what is shown largely at this museum are some of the developments of the western art form.

    The artistic masterpieces of the 13th century Italian Gothic, as well as the 20th century Pop arts are all presented at this place.

    Finally, there is the wide collection of modern art at Reina Sofia. According to several stories, the place was originally built as a hospital, but was converted to a museum for certain demands.

    Reina Sofia boasts the works of Salvador Dali, Joan Miro, and Pablo Picasso.  The works of the other Spanish artists are also exhibited here, but of the collection, the Guernica of Piccasso is actually the most valued.

    This masterpiece was actually crafted to depict the horrors of the Nazi fire bombing of the well-known town of Basque, Gernika which happened during the Spanish Civil War.

    It is further interesting to know that of the all the cities in Spain, Madrid is known for its bullfights.

    The bullfights typically happen at Las Ventas Arena in the district of Salamanca.  The fights are staged every Sunday afternoon from the month of April through to November.

    Hailed as the second largest city in Spain, Barcelona is basically the capital of Catalonia.  It is well-known for its friendly climate, a broad-based attitude, fine cuisines, and a wide display of arts and architecture to satisfy every traveler’s needs.

    It is for these features actually that Barcelona should be included in your must-see list, or else you’ll miss half of your life if you won’t see it.

    Barcelona is said to be one of the best places in Spain to see and explore on foot.  It is through wandering on foot that you’ll be able to witness the best of Barcelona attractions, the reason that people who come to visit the city spend most of their time walking around.


    But where in Barcelona city is best to walk?

    Well, the city of Barcelona is composed of four main districts, including the Old City or Ciutat Vella, Gothic Quarter or El Barri Gotic, El Raval, and La Ribera or the wandering area.

    Of these districts, it is the El Raval which is the portal to some of the best wonders in Barcelona.  The El Raval is actually the border southwest of La Rambla, which is considered throughout Barcelona as the city’s thoroughfare center.

    So you can start your walk right at this place and head your way to La Rambla which divides the Old Town of Barcelona and is considered until now as the ideal perfect portal for tourists wanting to acquaint themselves with all that the city has to offer.

    After a long walk from El Raval and down to La Rambla, you can stop at the Boqueria Market and head to the Gothic Quarter of the city to witness and enjoy the sights at the Catedral de la Seau.

    Here, you can view up close the Sagrada Familia, which is but the architectural masterpiece of Antoni Gaudi. This artwork is celebrated for its excellent color and texture which according to many resembles that of an ice that is gradually melting away.  This structure is well-known throughout the city of Barcelona, so don’t be surprised when you see a number of people visiting the area.

    There are a lot more attractions to see in Barcelona, including parks and reserves, museums, art galleries, and a lot more.  What’s further nice to know is that after your tiring day tour, there a wide selection of fine cuisines waiting for you to partake in.

    The Mediterranean diet of seafood, onions, garlic, virgin olive oil, and red wine are the main ingredients in the great food you will experience in Barcelona!
